Good morning all. Is anyone interested in Leevers Rich E 200? Powers up,
motor is working, not very good cosmetic condition. I don't have any
idea about the value so I am open for reasonable offers.
Thank you
Crikey. The BBC had loads of them at one time. Is it a mono, stereo or
twin track?
They were good enough workhorses, but would never win any races. ;-)
Workhorses are exactly what are needed, Machines that will run
reliably, 24/7 with the operator just having to clean the heads and check
the bias after changing tapes. Routine maintenance too has to be
not-too-frequent and easily performed.
"Thoroughbread" tape machines like the Lyrec and to some extent the MCI needed constant attention to keep them in top condition.
Admittedly they had marginally better performance figs than some
other machines but nothing that was critical.
Give me a workhorse like the Leevers Rich E200 any day.
I use mine for editing, and prefer it to the A80.
The E200 has a large impressive mushroom-shaped BBC type
knob for the monitor output level, which feels like a studded
attenuator. I was a little disappointed to find it was a standard
pot.
