This - or similar is how the 'vinyl wars' *always* start. One of the
resident nutcases stating how much better vinyl is than CD at any
opportunity in any thread.
Think their day job must be Jehovah Witnesses...
Well when there's no logical explanation for the continuance of outmoded
ideas, the Evangelists step in.
Well, when there's no logical explanation for the acceptance of inferior
substitutes, the Nutters step in.

The only one I have had my hands on, failed to impress, however that
could well have been a faulty one.
Hmmm, was it a 'Debut'? - If you are referring to the one I'm thinking of,
it was not a 'Debut'
Maybe not, if so sorry, ignore the post.

What sort of motor noise? I presume you don't just mean rumble.
No, not bearing rumble, but it sounded like 50hz, it wasn't from a hum
field, as it was only audible when the stylus was on the record. I
assumed it was vibration from the motor getting to the platter either
via the belt, or the mounting of the motor on the body of the TT.
Anybody think to remove the transit screws.......???

I did check, and the motor did seem to be suspended on rubber bands.

Given that it plays vinyl, it beats a £1,000 CDP in my book.
Hey Keith
Is this an example of those posts where someone asks a question about
vinyl and immediately gets flamed by the anti-vinyl crowd? There was
*no* reason for you stick an anti-CD note in your reply -- if this
what's going to happen on your vinyl-only ng?
He said "in my book" so it's his opinion. What's wrong with that?
It implies I prefer vinyl to CDs and that ain't allowed here........

Keith's little game at the moment is to introduce CD-bashing comments
into as many threads as he can, mimicing the behaviour that he claims
other posters do with respect to vinyl-bashing.

It implies, I think, that you're taking every opportunity to indulge
in a little trolling. C'mon Keith, quote a reference to *one* post on
this newsgroup where anyone has said that you "aren't allowed to
prefer vinyl" (as opposed to the many that point out that vinyl is a
technically inferior medium compared to CD).

OK, you've rumbled me. Yes, I'm just having a bit of fun until the vinyl
group opens its doors - it ain't like we're busy here or anything! But the
fact remains that it has not been possible to mention vinyl here for a very
long time now without it turning into a ****fest every damn time. As such,
it is effectively 'not allowed' here. (The clue was in me 'jerking' on CD
topics - even the Pope knows I don't give a rat's about them and know
bugger-all about it.... :-)
Hats off to you for being able to demonstrate a degree of equanimity with
your post, however. Possibly if there had been a lot less spite and bigotry
from such a small (but influential) faction in this group (who seem to feel
so damn threatened by its very mention), vinyl and digital might have been
able to jog along together. Sadly (or not sadly) this wasn't to be the
case....
Even more sadly, once the 'vinyl gyppos' have been evicted, I think you will
find the 'crap hosepipe' will be turned on the SACD/DVDA 5.1 boys! Just wait
and see.....
