One for Arny...
Arny, you commented (quite rightly) on the appearance of a ****ty Waitrose
pie of which I recently posted a picture.
Check this sorry item out:
http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show/Pie%20Chart.jpg
and compare the picture on the box with the real thing....
I'm sure they wouldn't get away with it in any other country!!
(Tastes about as good as it looks....!!!)

I think we call that a Qische in our country.

Obviously needs a little heating and browing.
I'm sure they wouldn't get away with it in any other
country!!
Let's not overestimate U.S. food, especially in the quick
and cheap category.
(Tastes about as good as it looks....!!!)
A little careful heating might help, but then again maybe
not.

We spell that "quiche", but changing the spelling
still doesn't make it any more appetizing:-)
I prefer to make my own.

Actually, its properly spelled the same in both countries.
My typo.
I prefer to make my own.
I prefer to let my wife do the honors. Not that I don't
cook, just that the quiche realm of foods is more her forte.

I can and do cook 'school dinners' (I'm retired, Swim's the breadwinner
here - female, Master's degree, 13 years younger than me, bright,
intelligent etc.etc.) but this 'packet sludge' has got me thinking it's time
for a Reality Check.
I don't 'stop for lunch' and I'm no 'foodie', but I think it's time to get
the Jamie Oliver/Marguerite Patten out.....

*Home made* pies.....???
eyes mist over....
It's been YEARS since I had a home-made meat pie...!!!
(Don't mention *home-made* steak and kidney pudding in a big white basin
with 4 inches of dark brown, gravy-soaked pudding on the top!!!)

It's surprising how many audiophiles seem to enjoy cooking.
When it's my turn to host an audio-group evening, a quiche is often
my dish of choice. Simple to make and very appetising.
No junk food in this house. Delia Smith rules:-)

We tend not to subject my 'audio guests' here to our own cooking and send
out for pizzas or summat for convenience, but even they have been ****e
lately....
I think I'm entering into an *eat less poop* phase.... :-)

That can't be bad:-)
Conjuring up " a little something" in the kitchen doesn't take long.
and is usually much better received than dial-a-pizza, especially
when you also serve your own wine. Good living does not have to
be expensive or unhealthy.

Fortunately I've never been in an "eat poop" phase. I once went into a
McDonalds, and was driven back out by the foul stench half way to the
counter. Never again. Most of my veg comes from the garden in summer,
and the rest comes from the local farmers' market. Fish comes direct
from Grimsby every couple of days courtesy of a man in a van.
Living in Greater London has its advantages.
