The Scottish regiment was called "The devils in skirts", and it wasn't
their guns that the Burper tribesmen were scared of.

;-)))

Maybe the "Devils Own Skirts" might have been more appropriate
(like the King's Own Scottish Borderers)

My father was posted to that regiment during WW2. The
Col was a keen gardener, and the regiment was known as
"The King's Own Herbaceous Borderers"

Funny how threads wander. Keith started off by posting
a picture of a pie which turned into a quiche, a truffle, and
now a regiment with bagpipes.

Arny, you commented (quite rightly) on the appearance of a

Waitrose pie of which I recently posted a picture.

Check this sorry item out:

I think we call that a Qische in our country.

and compare the picture on the box with the real thing....

Obviously needs a little heating and browing.

You're not wrong - here it is again 'heated and browned':

http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show...ie%20Chart.jpg

Much better!!

(Must have been - I/we've just eaten it!! :-)

So, my 'head in the fridge, eating what I find' methodology is the *first*
thing that needs to be modified in my 'eat less poop' campaign!

Still doesn't look anything like the picture on the box though:

Does it?? :-)

It's called 'Word Association Football'!!

This from:

http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/414500.html
"Origin

A word game in which the first player starts with a word and subsequent
players have to follow with a related word and so on. The pastime has been
around for some years and is staple fare for families on long car journeys
and the like. The Monty Python team coined the name for an inspired comic
sketch. Word association is a psychological technique invented by Jung where
patients are asked for an immediate response to any word fired at them.
Association football is the proper name of soccer (and the origin of the
word incidentally), although anyone outside the USA will tell you that the
proper name of soccer is football."

(Note the "origin of the word 'soccer'"!!)

Now, WTF has any of this to do with 'audio'...???

:-)

Fortunately I've never been in an "eat poop" phase. I once went into a
McDonalds, and was driven back out by the foul stench half way to the
counter. Never again.

Keep it real Don - we're talking supermarket pies here! My intake of
'hamburgers' is as follows:

Macdonalds - 3 in the last quarter of a century.

Burger King - 3 in the last decade....

Most of my veg comes from the garden in summer,
and the rest comes from the local farmers' market. Fish comes direct
from Grimsby every couple of days courtesy of a man in a van.

Get away! White Toyota van marked 'Grimsby Fish??

Next time, ask the bloke if he visits Shelley Place in St Neots. If he does,
ask if he know the wag sometimes poncing about in the garage at the end of
the cul-de-sac, just up from his 'regular' there!! :-)

(Guess who that is....!!?? :-)

But it's miles more fun to make your own pies. And you don't have to
add preservatives and MSG. Just half a bottle of port or Guinness.

No, this one's a Trafic (is that Renault?). He said he used to do St.
Neots, but there was this lunatic poncing about in a garage.......

Oi! Susanna Seivane and Kathryn Tickell are two fine pipers who
certainly have a place in audio. The fact that neither of them plays
the Scottish warpipes is relevant though!

I don't 'stop for lunch' and I'm no 'foodie', but I think it's time to

It's surprising how many audiophiles seem to enjoy cooking.
When it's my turn to host an audio-group evening, a quiche is often
my dish of choice. Simple to make and very appetising.
No junk food in this house. Delia Smith rules:-)

We tend not to subject my 'audio guests' here to our own cooking and send
out for pizzas or summat for convenience, but even they have been ****e
lately....

I think I'm entering into an *eat less poop* phase.... :-)
