Default Denon UD-M31 - speaker recommendations?

Hi all - just looking for some opinions from people who have a bit
more hifi savvy than myself. Hope I'm in the right place!

I recently bought the aforementioned Denon UD-M31 integrated hifi. I
figured this 20W box would be adequate for a smallish living room and
am currently using a pair of Kef Cresta 1 speakers with it.

While it all looks awfully small & cute I was wondering if more
substantial speakers would give me better sound. Nothing huge - just a
small step up from the Kefs. Something like Wharfedale Diamond 8.1s,
B&W DM303s - that sort of size and price range (£100-£200).

All opinions greatly appreciated.

Mission loudspeakers have historically had a noted affinity with these
Denon systems. Ken Kessler, reviewing the Denon system which you own,
managed to successfully persuade it to drive his Wilson Watt/Puppy
combination, so I suspect that it will successfully drive any of
Mission's current models, including their floorstanders.

Yeah, I think I read some review of the system that said the speakers
that come with it as standard are rebadged Missions. Pity I couldn't
afford to buy it with speakers.
Still, I'll look into the Mission thing - maybe price some of their
lower-end stuff against my budget. Thanks for the suggestion.

There are other choices. Epos3, NHT, Paradigm Atoms, Pinnacle,
AE(outranked Wharfedale in Hi-Fi something or other). I have the
Diamonds, and they are quite acceptable after breaking in. Of course
with speakers the grass is always greener.
The Madisound sledgeling is a good DIY kit.

Yeah, I know what you mean with that "grass is always greener"
comment.

Don't think I fancy any sort of DIY kit - flat pack furniture is about
my limit! I'll look at some of the others you mentioned though. Thanks
