Default Crackly areas of sound in video...

....Hello folks

Creating video means dealing with the sound that comes with them and during
my video editing process I usually export the audio and normalise it/apply
compression (dynamic processing in CEP2) filters.

Some loud audio, however, yields a cackling noise. Even when it's
normalised, these louder parts of the track retain the crackle.

I'm guessing it was captured/recorded as such as a result of the mic on the
camcorder not being up to industry standards, or the voices on the other end
simply being too loud!

Anyway, I've found that isolating these areas and applying a noise reduction
(Lots of cracks and pops filter in CEP2) removes it.

But is there a simpler way to get rid of these abnormalities, or, failing
that, an easy way of isolating the areas of sound which are most likely to
produce them (IE those which exceed a certain level).

TIA for any help offered.

Tom.
