Default Sony HAR-LH500 - Title database

Hi All,

Can anyone confirm whether the Sony HAR-LH 500 hard disk recorded has a CD
title database preinstalled.

Their website http://products.sony.co.uk/productde...p?id=7_40_3584
indicates it does, however my experience of it suggests it doesn't, I have
had mine for about a week now and so far have ripped about 150 CD's onto it,
out of which only one CD came up with title information and that's only
because the CD has CDText on it.

Many of the titles I have are mainstream by popular artists all of which I
would have expected to be in this fictitious preinstalled CDDB.

So has anyone else experienced this?

I realise I can use M-Crew and download the track info off the net, which
works great albeit time consuming.

Also on a slightly different subject

Is there any way to either make the title searches not case sensitive or use
m-crew to automatically convert the case all to uppercase, which would
resolve the issue. I don't really want to really want to re-title all of my
CD's to make searches easier if I can help it.

Thanks in advance

Leo

Haven't heard a dickie-bird since mid-November. I'm going to shout at
them when I get around to it.

I insisted on repair instead of replacement and made it clear that
unless they tell me what was wrong with it and what they fixed I won't
be accepting it back, or a new one with the same design fault.

I think the software is probably to blame, so no amount of repair will
help. The fact that you have had the same issue adds weight to my
fears.

Tim,
I'm certain it was M-Crew that screwed mine up too but cos it was less than
30 days old they agreed to a replacement.
but unless there is an upgrade to the software it's not going to be any
better.
Also my friend has one of the older LH1000 models and that has gone the same
way although that was always a bit flaky.
If only the PC drivers gave access to the disc then you could back it up
easily and save a lot of hassle
