Actually, I'd disagree with this 'etiquette' - thread followers will
already know the previous contributions, and would want to read the
present contribution, without having to scroll through (sometimes very)
lengthy quotes. People coming into an existing thread can always scroll
down to see the posts context, from then on, they can get to see the
follow-ons without all that tedious scrolling.
Top posting is unwelcome in uk.*. I tend to think of a top poster
as the virtual equivalent of someone who might stroll into his
or her local hostelry, smile at the inhabitants and try to make
polite conversation, whilst urinating simultaneously on the carpet.
That wouldn't be well received in such an environment; it's virtual
equivalent is similarly poorly received here also.
Yeah but it's only envy - there's some here who couldn't **** and chew gum
simultaneously, never mind make polite conversation.....

I assume Quad are investigating this question at present. Using 988's or
989's for the front/back left/right may be OK, but they might be a wee bit
big to use as a center speaker... ;-
Not at all. Just make sure you get one with the correct tint of white
coloured grille, then use it as both centre speaker and projector
screen. Of course, it does mean ditching your telly in favour of a
projector (with better than average geometry controls). :-)
That was of coures a joke, *but* you can see a definite 'high end'
market niche there. Suppose you supply the megabuck custom installers
with a three-speaker front array of 989s, whose front 'grille' is a
Stewart microperf screen! Legendary Quad sound quality in a state of
the art front projection installation...................
