With track at once, of course, the situation is quite different.

So - I assume its because it produces copies that sound much better than

something? Advice appreciated

It's digital! Unless there is a fault or incompatibility all copies
will be identical to the original regardless of the price of the
duplicating equipment.

Bad logic. The input and output are digital, but the medium is
physical, with an inevitable (if small) potential for errors. Which
is why CD players have error-correcting systems.

But a stand-alone unit is no more or less likely to burn errors than a
computer one.

For my experiments I just ripped the tracks from the original and copy to
my HD, then wrote a program that just ran through both files doing a byte
by byte comparison. They came out the same. IIRC I also used a 'diff' tool
that does much the same that came with my C/C++ compiler.

That proves that both copies were within the capability of the
error-correction circuits.

Not really.

There is redundancy in the data, so the probability of a bad copy is
extremely low (less so for audio discs due to their poor block accuracy,
but still)

unless the medium is actually damaged, it isnt worth thinking about
really.
