Default Amp & Speakers for bedroom

I need a pair of small speakers, (and amp) for my bedroom. Whats
important is that they sound good at low volumes, and small enough to
sit on the bedside table(s). Amplified speakers would be most
practical, or a micro-amplifier.

Any recommendations?

Stuart.

Can you recommenced any? Most of what I have heard don't sound too good
(they are £20 after all).

The best choice for this at a reasonable price IMHO would be a decent PC
set up with a separate sub which will also contain the amps, and should
also have a remote cabled volume control. Can't recommend anything
current, though, as I've not had a listen to any recently. Take a
favourite CD to PC World etc and have a listen.

I've got a Yamaha MST-35 setup on my pc. Sounds ok (well, better than the
TV anyway), and cost £28 at a pc 'fair'. Trouble with these little
satellite things is that there isn't room or cash for decent tweeters, so
one little cone has to do all the hard work. It often fails, esp at volume.
