Default Vauxhal Vectra Radio Cassette

Hi all, can anyone advise me: I have a friend who has just bought a '99
Vauxhall Vectra with a standard Vauxhall Radio Cassette in it with the
display mounted remotely from the head unit. He wishes to install a CD head
unit, or multi changer. Does he need a VAUXHALL part, or is there anything
else that 'may' fit, and utilise the remote mounted display, i.e.. a multi
changer that would be compatible with the standard head unit?
The fitted unit has the following markings 400/4664 and also GM400V1638220.

Many thanks for anticipated help and assistance with this,
Dave Ridout

If the radio is a CAR400 (as shown on the front) then this is not CD
compatible so your options are
Vauxhall branded single CD (Delco CDR500) will work with steering controls
and display
Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer with interface for steering wheel controls, or:
I think you can also get an interaface for a Sony which will work with both
steering wheel controls and head up display, see www.autoleads.co.uk for
more info.

We have an adapter (DOPS002) which will allow a Sony head unit to
drive the display in the dash and work with the steering wheel
controls.
It even displays scrolling CD text if your head unit supports it.
We will soon be releasing a new version ( DOPS004 ) which supports MP3
units and displays filenames and ID3 tags.It supports both 8 and 10
Digit mode on the Vauxhall displays with a larger character set in 10
digit mode.

I am currently car testing the DOPS004 with a CDX-CA900 and a
CDX-T70MX and it is looks really cool.
