Leevers Rich E200
Good morning all. Is anyone interested in Leevers Rich E 200? Powers up, motor is working, not very good cosmetic condition. I don't have any idea about the value so I am open for reasonable offers.
Thank you |

They were good enough workhorses, but would never win any races. ;-) -- *Re-elect nobody Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

Thank you -- Mariusz The LR E200 is a very good machine. I have one, ex BBC which I bought about five years ago in pristine condition. According to Norman Leevers some 1500 of these were in use in the London area alone, with about 1000 scattered about various departments of the BBC. They are very reliable, and easy to maintain. There seem to be many variants, so that machine and manual may not always match exactly. You should have no difficulty in finding a buyer. If you wish, you can contact me directly, and I will put you in touch with a colleague in the UK who will probably be interested. He has been trying to get me to sell my E200 to him almost from the day I got it. Iain |

Routine maintenance too has to be not-too-frequent and easily performed. "Thoroughbread" tape machines like the Lyrec and to some extent the MCI needed constant attention to keep them in top condition. Admittedly they had marginally better performance figs than some other machines but nothing that was critical. Give me a workhorse like the Leevers Rich E200 any day. I use mine for editing, and prefer it to the A80. The E200 has a large impressive mushroom-shaped BBC type knob for the monitor output level, which feels like a studded attenuator. I was a little disappointed to find it was a standard pot. Iain |
