The 1029 has no bottom end at all, and sounds very honky too. I'd suggest
buying your Reveals back again.

You might look at the Spendors too, if they are any cheaper in the UK
than they were here. But most of what you'll find in that price range
is going to be a downgrade from the Reveals.

i have heard both, and like the 1029s a lot
my reveals were good, but i want some active speakers so i can move them
around with me easily
surprised a lot of people dont like the 1029s - they sound crystal clear to
me

Just curious. Why did you sell the system before deciding on a

replacement?

I was gonna say. How will you know if your new speakers are an
"upgrade" if you can't compare them directly? Are you going to assume
that since Genelecs cost more and some people love them, that they must
be better for you? I personally can't stand those things, and although
the Reveals wouldn't be my first choice, I sure as hell wouldn't pay
money to trade them for some 1029a's. Of course, you can't figure this
stuff out unless you listen to both speakers in the same room at nearly
the same time.

See, to me they sound like some kid jacked up the smiley-face graphic
EQ on his faux-modular chromed plastic bookshelf system.

Genelecs seem to have a reputation for "smiling" response curves in actual
use. If it floats someone's boat...
