I have a demag cassette from tdk this is simply an oscillator withe a small
button cell and a microswitch behind the coil that pusheds up to the head
when play is pressed. it is designed to tail off slowly.
Not sure what frequency it uses.

** Don't you hear a sound via your speakers when it operates ??

I would be expecting a damn loud one.

Could this advert merely be incorrectly labelled?

** Nope, it's clearly a supply frequency de-magnetiser with tapering output.

Likely it would do a good job on a cassette tape or small steel objects.
