Default Its a pity that..

So many well respected names in tape recording are now kind of just brands
used by others.
I noted when I did some searches, for example that Akai is now
headquartered in Singapore as a subsidiary of Grande Holdings, a Hong
Kong-based conglomerate, which also owns the formerly Japanese brands
Nakamichi and Sansui. The Akai brand is now used to rebadge electronics
manufactured by other companies.

Even the very first Amstrad cassette deck had a transport made by nakamichi,
a budget one of course but it was far better than some of the competition at
the time.
