Dedicated CD recorder - worth buying or not?

It's digital! Unless there is a fault or incompatibility all copies
will be identical to the original regardless of the price of the
duplicating equipment.
Bad logic. The input and output are digital, but the medium is
physical, with an inevitable (if small) potential for errors. Which
is why CD players have error-correcting systems.
But a stand-alone unit is no more or less likely to burn errors than a
computer one.
