Default Pro-ject Debut Turntable

The Pro-Ject Debut is an excellent buy for the money, no doubt about it.
I bought one 2 years ago and was so impressed with the overall
performance of it I recently bought a second one. Now I have one on 45
rpm and the other on 33 & 1/3. The supplied Ortofon OM5E cartridge is
easily upgradable ( if you really think it is necessary ) simply by
changing the stylus to one of the several others on offer in the OM
series.

The mechanical isolation of the Debut is very good as well when placed
on a suitable surface. The same drive system that is used in some of the
more costlier models is the same in the Debut. The major difference in
the Debut from some of the next higher up price range models is the Tone
Arm although the one supplied on the Debut is more than adequit in this
price range.

You must consider that the Debut ( now Debut II ) is not a high end
vinyl conneseur turntable but no one ever said it was. You still can't
easily beat the performance of this turntable with anything else in its
price range and for the most part even the next higher price range ( my
opinion ).

Audition one at a dealers showroom then audition one in the next higher
price range and maybe even the next higher one as well. If you can hear
any difference ok, but it may be likely you will not depending on what
you are actually listening for.

I have been using my Pro-Ject Debut II turntables to put some of my vast
accumilation of 45's & lp's onto Compact Disc and the results are just
fine for me.

If you are on a tight budget, the Debut is your best bet. Stay away from
those all plastic turntables sold for under £100, save a little more
and get the Debut, you will be glad you did.

I have owned quite a few auto changers and turntables over the years and
nothing has impressed me more than the Pro-Ject Debut in this price
range or even the next higher in most cases.

No, I am not a Dealer, just an audio enthusiast who likes a " good deal
" when I see one.
