Default Powerful enough for my speakers?

Why not take your speakers to where you are buying the mini system ?
Mini systems are not usually the best solution to high quality however as
the most compromised part will be the speakers you are better to keep
speakers you like. Actual wattage quoted is irrelevant for sound quality
and makes only a small difference in terms of maximum volume output. You
are unlikely to use more than a watt or two to drive your speakers at
"normal" levels.

Hello,

I'm considering buying a Teac 300DAB mini system, but keeping my old
Morduant Short MS3.30 speakers. The specs of the amp (AH-300MkII) say
"45W + 45W (6 1/2, 1kHz, 0.5% THD)". This means little to me, but I
guess that the 6.5 is the impedance, so the amp can do something like
35W RMS per channel to my 8ohm speakers.

Is this enough power? My living room is quite large at about 5m x 6m and
is carpeted, but I don't play my music particularly loud.

If it's just not powerful enough, I guess I'll go to Richer Sounds and
buy a 540A+540C+640T combo, but it's bigger and costs approx £600.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Chris.
