Default New Martin-Logan XStat: $10K speaker that looks like $129 IKEA special

And side by side with the Ascent:

According to Thomas J. Norton, they sound outstanding:

And they better, because according to me, they look like something you get
from IKEA for $129 (assembly required).

I know that looks are secondary to performance but did they have to be
sooooooo CHEESY. YECCHH!

Compare to Innersound, for example:

To me these are beautiful speakers in addition to sounding great.

As many of you know, I'm a huge Martin Logan fan and own a pair of Prodigys
and a pair of SL-3's but I just cannot digest this new look.

What do the rest of you think?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. With the three under discussion
here, I think the Innersound looks horrible with that metal backplate
(and those sideplates don't look good for sound quality!), while the
Ascent looks top-heavy. Personally, while there does seem to be a
disjointed 'two part' look about the XStat, I like the simplicity and
cleanliness of the design. Yes, it does have a minimalist Scandinavian
look, IKEA if you like, but IMHO that's no bad thing.
