Yeah, yeah...
'Homebrew Triode Fever Grips UK Audophiles' on Reuters then....??
More like Homebrew Transformer Fever - there could be some good dosh to be
saved. ;-)
I haven't had a chance to read this most interesting thread properly
yet, ...
Worth sitting down to with a brew.
... but if you are considering this route I wouldn't hesitate to
recommend Phil Ramsey of http://www.bluebellaudio.com/ for bits and
bobs at a *very* reasonable rate including Hammond iron at decent
prices, if you decide not to roll yer own. (Audio Note as well, I
gather, for those with deep pockets....??)
I think I need to build up a list of links...
Nick put me on to him and he's been superb so far. He promises he can
do everything - down to trannie fixings and hole punches - that
anyone might need for a build. My bits haven't arrived yet (not due
for a day or two) but the guy's 'interested' and very helpful.
Hole punches for transformers? Like, big square shapes?
If anyone does contact him, mention this ng - he didn't seem aware of
it and was pleased to hear there are still some genuine enthusiasts
(idiots) about!
(Might get a 'group disount or summat!! ;-)
I'll keep that in mind, but I have a pre-amp tart-up and a speaker rebuild
fantasy to cater for first. ;-) I'm gravitating towards making a prototype
of the tapered tube enclosure fairly soon - rather than spend far too long
trying to understand the theory of it, I'm just going to make one to the
dimensions that the artist in me decided looked right - I'll work out what
direction it has to go in once I hear it.
