Try to show them where they are wrong?
You have never been in my room with my choice of furniture,
wallcoverings, cables or components.
The distortions to the signal caused by vinyl will show up
regardless of the above.
Yeh - so?
Hey, ya gotta hear my stereo - it's sooooo noisy and distorted!
LOL!
You have never been in possession of my ears or brain either.
And god's in his heaven.
How would you know what vinyl sounds like to me - how would you
know I was 'wrong'.
Because for the umpteenth time vinyl *adds* to the original signal -
things like distortion, noise etc as well as limiting the dynamic
range and bandwidth.
Your bloody stubborn aren't you.
He's bloody right.
I like vinyl for what the sound vinyl can give me, regardless of its
technical shortcomings.
What about the aforementioned audible shortcomings?
Oh, I get it, Hey, ya gotta hear my stereo - it's sooooo noisy and
distorted!
I like CD because of what it does well,
regardless that it can't supply that certain sound I can get from
vinyl.
That would be properly stated: It can't supply the audible noise and
distortion I can get from
vinyl, whether I want it or not. Hey, ya gotta hear my stereo - it's sooooo
noisy and distorted!
Depending on the mood I'm in, and the sound I want, I can
listen to either.
Hey, ya gotta hear my stereo - it's sooooo noisy and distorted!
Now, maybe there is a digi system out there that can give me
everything?
Yes, there are digital noise and distortion generators. It's a lot easier to
add this sort of thing than to reduce it below CD levels.
Is that digi system available for the price I can afford?
DVD players are selling for $50 over here. They play CDs as well.
My absolute limit for buying a single item of HiFi is £1000. Anything
higher than that is over the top as far as I am concerned (paying
due regard to my families needs).
There's only one word to describe someone who pays £1000 for a disc player:
FOOL!
Until I find a digi system that supplies it all, I will listen to
both AND I will comment on both.
The digital noise and distortion generators I'm familiar with cost way less
than £1000.
Why do you have to be so negative
about vinyl and why can't you be constructive - like suggest some
digi gear that may be in my price range and may be what I'm looking
for?
Been there, done that. One really good thing about digital is that you don't
have to pay £1000 to get a player that is free of audible noise and
distortion. OTOH, you can pay £10,000 for a vinyl player and still have tons
of audible noise and distortion.
But that's what you like, isn't it "Bitsy"?
Hey, ya gotta hear my stereo - it's sooooo noisy and distorted!
LOL!
